HE NEVER SAID A WORD. THE WORLD WOULDN'T SHUT UP ABOUT IT.
One divorced woman. One emotionally unavailable potato. A world that's completely lost its mind.
Pamela Crump is newly divorced, thoroughly disillusioned and increasingly convinced that the entire human race has gone mad. Her husband has run off with a woman called Serenity, who describes herself as a conscious intimacy practitioner. Pamela would quite happily spend the rest of her life drinking tea and avoiding anyone who uses the phrase living my truth.
Then, thanks to an administrative mistake of spectacular proportions, Pamela accidentally registers a King Edward potato as her emotional support animal.
Meet Sir Spudley Wellington III.
He doesn't speak. He doesn't move. He has absolutely nothing to say about mindfulness, healing or discovering your authentic self. Naturally, the world thinks he's a genius.
Before Pamela can explain that he's literally a potato, Spudley has millions of followers, a literary agent, corporate sponsorships and a reputation as Britain's most spiritually enlightened vegetable.
There are television appearances. Wellness retreats. Public outrage. Cancellation. A rival emotional support aubergine. And an ex-husband who somehow thinks he deserves credit for the whole thing.
A wickedly funny British satire of wellness culture, social media hysteria, celebrity worship and the extraordinary absurdity of modern life.
Sharp, irreverent and unexpectedly heartfelt, The Emotional Support Potato is for anyone who has ever looked at the modern world and wondered whether common sense has quietly left the building.
Sometimes the wisest person in the room is a potato.

I came for the potato. I stayed for Pamela.
I expected a silly, funny story about an emotional support potato. What I got was a brilliantly witty satire of influencer culture, wellness gurus and our obsession with finding meaning in everything. Sir Spudley Wellington III offers absolutely nothing, yet somehow becomes a sensation. I laughed out loud, but the real surprise was the warmth and humanity beneath the humour. Clever, wonderfully absurd and unexpectedly touching. An absolute gem!
I decided to read this because the title grabbed my attention and made me laugh, but it actually ended up being a most entertaining book.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by 5 am productivity hacks, 12-step skincare routines, or people on TikTok trying to sell you “mindful water,” this book is the reality check you need.
The book follows Pamela and her completely normal, quiet King Edward potato, Sir Spudley Wellington III. What starts as a silly joke quickly spirals into full-blown social me
This book is absolutely hilarious! The idea that an ordinary potato can become an internet sensation simply by doing nothing is both ridiculous and frighteningly believable. The characters are wonderfully quirky, the dialogue is sharp, and the observations about social media fame are painfully accurate. It's a clever reminder of how easily we confuse popularity with wisdom. Funny, original, and impossible to put down. Highly recommended!
